Now that Johnny Depp is married to Amber Heard, it seems that his dark days are over. The 52-year-old actor made a shocking revelation during his speech at the 31st annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

According to Inquisitr, he confessed that he had a difficult time shooting the critically-acclaimed film "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" with Leonardo DiCaprio back in 1993.

"It was a hard time for me, that film, for some reason. I don't know why," Johnny Depp admitted. "It was mostly really miserable. You can't really tell if the thing you're feeling at the time is coincidental. Did I have to be that way for the film?"

Johnny Depp played a young man that had to face a lot of responsibility at a young age including taking care of his obese mother (Darlene Cates) and mentally impaired brother (Leonardo DiCaprio). Amber Heard's husband revealed that he bullied "The Revenant" star during that time.

"I respect Leo a lot," Depp said. "He worked really hard on that film, researching and showing up ready to work, and I tortured him. I really did. I actually did."

The "Black Mass" actor explained that he didn't literally torture the 41-year-old actor, but he enjoyed teasing him all the time.

"He was always talking about these videos games, you know?" Depp said. "I told you it was kind of a dark period. 'No, I will not give you a drag of my cigarette while you hide from your mother again, Leo.'"

After more than 20 years, Johnny Depp has matured a lot and has gone past the dark stage of his life. During his acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Festival, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor expressed his gratitude for Amber Heard.

"I also have to thank my wife Amber for putting up with me, for living with all these characters, which can't be easy," he said as reported by Us. "It's hard for me - it's got to be hard for her."
