Ebola Breaking News: Dr. Nancy Snyderman Hasn’t Returned To NBC After Breaking Quarantine Policy

(Photo : flickr.com/creativecommons) Ebola quarantine mandates those who are in close contact with an infected person to have a 21-day isolation.

Dr. Nancy Snyderman, reporter for NBC News, hasn't returned to NBC for nearly two months after she was forced to apologize to the public for allegedly breaking quarantine policy by going out in the public after she returned from Liberia. Apparently, she was exposed to a freelancer photographer named Ashoka Mukpo, who was later on diagnosed with the deadly disease, Ebola.

Dr. Nancy is a doctor and chief medical correspondent of NBC who is one of the people forced to have mandatory isolation for 21 days. She prompted an outrage among citizens when she allegedly broke and violated the team's voluntary quarantine after driving to a café. However, she was made to apologize to the public and took a time off NBC News. She was about to return last November. Up to now, she hasn't returned which sparked rumors on whether she has left the show for good.

After the 21-day quarantine which she finally completed, she was finally declared Ebola-free. According to sources, she has spent time with her family after her isolation. NBC said, "While in Liberia Dr. Nancy and her team delivered first class, first-hand reporting from the front lines of this tragic and monumental story. Their subsequent departure from Monrovia, their return to the U.S. and period of quarantine has been a challenging time. We have encouraged them - and they have agreed - to take some time off with their families and friends to help restore some normalcy to their lives. We very much look forward to their return next month."

Her action sparked rage among viewers as some say they do not 'trust' the news reported anymore. This left NBC with major credibility problems as bosses having to decide whether her credibility can survive the incident.

After the incident, New Jersey health officials imposed a rule that her isolation should be mandatory after the doctor and her crews were seen getting takeout food from a restaurant.

Ebola Virus Disease is a deadly illness that has no cure yet. It took almost 7,000 lives in West Africa and infected more than 16,000 people. Up to now, vaccines are still undergoing tests and development.
