The Brooklyn Nets have a glimmer of hope and the Toronto Raptors are looking like contenders. These two teams have a chance to help each other out before the trade deadline.
The Brooklyn Nets recent win over the Denver Nuggets featured the debut of injured but promising rookie, Chris McCullough as chronicled by team site Nothin' But Nets.
Chris McCullough "scored two points, but blocked several big shots. This game was different in both the starters and the bench showed up and helped produce the points needed to keep the game close. Something the Nets would do all game," NBN cited.
While it could be premature optimism, the rookie gave them something to look forward to.
"With McCullough playing the team can start working with him. His growth this season will help him learn and grow to hopefully be a full-time player next season," NBN concluded.
Which brings forth the matter of trading Thaddeus Young. Young topscored for the Nets in the win and is one of their most consistent players-which means he should be worth a first round pick. Toronto site Tip of the Tower has named him as a target.
"Certainly, Young would make for an enticing addition to the team. While the Brooklyn Nets have struggled this season, he has enjoyed a decent campaign, averaging 15.1 points and a career-high 9.1 rebounds," TOTT noted.
The Nets are almost certain to ask for a draft pick in return if ever they decided to trade Young. "Fortunately for Toronto, they are in a strong position in this respect. They currently hold two first round picks both for this year and next."
This may be one of the trades to look out for in the deadline. Adding a competent power forward could catapult the Raptors into serious contenders in the East.
