"Saw 8" or what is now titled "Saw: Legacy" has been confirmed and fans are excited! Does this mean Jigsaw is back and alive for the movie?

There have been rumors about a few movies returning and being resurrected for either the next installment or a reboot. The "Saw" franchise is among them and apparently, it's no rumor after all.

A report by Gamespot revealed the good news to the gore genre fans, with development details in tow. "New writers have been hired by producers at Lionsgate to write the film, which is currently titled 'Saw: Legacy'," it said.

"Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger previously penned 2010's 'Piranha 3D,' as well as its sequel 'Piranha 3DD'," added the report.

The entire "Saw" franchise began in 2004 with director James Wan. Unexpectedly, the gore movie gathered its own cult following and a few other installments spurted after. According to TrackingBoard where the initial confirmation of "Saw 8" development was revealed, "the movies became known as 'torture porn' due to their graphic content and gratuitous B-movie bloodshed about a serial killer named Jigsaw who put people through a series of grizzly games that ultimately ended in a horrific death."

That being said, now fans are wondering how "Saw 8" now officially titled "Saw: Legacy" will bring up the level of conscientious mutilation (as Jigsaw's idea of life preservation) in the next installment.

Fangoria pointed out the possibility that "Saw 8" or "Saw: Legacy," given the numerous "torture porn" movies abundant to date (possibly after the resurgence of the zombie and apocalyptic movies), will up the level of torture. What happens after the death of Jigsaw is another pouring out of speculations in the months to come.

The question is, will Jigsaw still have plans hidden after all these years? Or will the new writers "resurrect" Jigsaw in some other way, obviously not physically?

There's no release date for "Saw 8" or "Saw: Legacy" as of the moment. But development for the movie indeed has progressed.
