Ebola Outbreak 2014: Nancy Snyderman To Return To ‘Today’ After Ebola Quarantine Breech Controversy

(Photo : commons.wikimedia.org) She is to return to the "Today Show" on December 2.

Dr. Nancy Snyderman, the medical correspondent for NBC News, will return on television and will appear on 'Today' show on Wednesday morning. Many  rumors swirled about Dr. Snyderman's prolonged absence on the show following the incident wherein she and her crew violated quarantine policies by driving to a restaurant.

Dr. Snyderman was a correspondent for Ebola in Liberia and upon arriving back home, they were placed on isolation for 21 days. However, she and her crew were bombarded by criticisms because they were spotted in a local restaurant getting take-out food.

She was made to apologize to the public and was placed on a compulsory quarantine for 21 days. She should have been back by November, but was not seen on the show until early December.

NBC News would not officially confirm the doctor's return to work. However, an executive revealed that her planned report for work is on Wednesday. It involves a taped segment about 'depression', and a conversation with another anchor on the show.

Dr. Snyderman was exposed to photographer Ashoka Mukpo, who was tested positive for Ebola in October. Hence, health officials mandated her and the crew to admit themselves to quarantine without due exposure to other people including their family members.

The Ebola Virus Disease has spread silently in the far flung areas of West Africa. It took almost 6,000 lives and infected 16,000 people in West Africa especially in the three worst-hit countries namely, Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Up to date, there is still no known treatment for the disease while health organizations are clamoring to develop the vaccine that can save many lives in Africa. However, there is a new vaccine which passed the safety testing on human trials that has swirled hope worldwide.

Dr. Nancy Snyderman is expected to release her statement regarding the incident that involved her last October.
