According to a report by Pocket-Lint, the Lumix TZ80 is a compact camera with large zoom capabilities built in a small frame. It's a point and shoot camera that offers 30x optical zoom and features a touch screen, a first in the Lumix series, which allows users to easily reposition focus area.
The report elaborated that with a 24-720mm focal range, long-zoom shots are very manageable with the Lumix TZ80. However, one of its pitfalls is that, though the zoom range is large, the amount of light the can pass through the lens as the zoom extends reduces, thus making it difficult to shoot in low light.
As its aperture opening suggests, f/3.3-6.4, it's at its widest at f/3.3 to f/6.4 at the 720mm equivalent. It is ideal for long-zoom shots but very difficult to use in sunset and evening settings.
On the other hand, using its 4K Ultra High Definition, the Lumix TZ80 can shoot 4k video in 25/30fps at 100 Mbps and it's the first Lumix compact camera to feature a 4K photo and post-focus options, the report added.
The new Lumix camera also has a Wi-Fi capability which allows users to upload and share files online through the use of Panasonic Imaging App. Though synching with a smartphone won't be an issue, images uploaded won't be marked with a geographical location due to the device's lack of GPS.
In terms of image quality, the Lumix TZ80 offers an 18.1-megapixels in its 1/2.3-inch sensor, Pocket-Lint added . Its resolution is higher compared to the TZ70 camera which is lower compared to the TZ60.
According to Pocket-Lint, Panasonic's answer to the query regarding the increase in resolution for this current TZ series is that it's already difficult nowadays to achieve lower pixels counts using the latest technology.
With all these useful and powerful features, the Lumix TZ80 probably stands as an affordable camera with a functional viewfinder and substantial zoom capability.
