Heart Breaking Story: 4-Year Old Boy Suffers From Mysterious Strokes, Mystery Illness Yet To Be Determined

Adam Lefkowitz, 4-years old, has a mystery illness that caused him to suffer as much as 15 strokes. Just months ago, Adam was a healthy boy living a normal life. The boy who hails from Long Island boy loves to play but not until he suffered strokes since August this year.

The still unknown debilitating and mysterious illness prevented him to perform tasks which he normally can do before he had the condition. "He can't open his eye and he's weak and even when he goes to the bathroom, he rests his head on my wife's shoulder," Evan Lefkowitz, 35, told TODAY News. He added that his son's condition worsens each day.

"He's fighting and really trying, but it's weighing on him. He's stuck in a room and wants to go out on my shoulder like he always does. It's getting tough on him," the desperate dad added.

He is currently confined in the pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia wherein he cannot move his legs, open his right eye and even go to the bathroom without the aid of a catheter.

He has been diagnosed with an extremely rare autoimmune disorder called Central Nervous System Vasculitis. He is not responding to treatments that left his doctors perplexed and confused on the rare disease. His parents are devastated and desperate to find answers for their son to recover from his illness.

They are hoping that his story will be publicized in order to get the attention of a specialist or someone who can give the answers they need. "Frustrating is not even the word," said his mother, Dina. "We're living in hell, really."

"It's heartbreaking because all he wants to do is go home," she added. "Every single day I have to deal with him asking, 'When can we go to Chuck E. Cheese to play?' He's only 4. He doesn't understand what's going on."
