Bungie's "Destiny" has been on the news lately following the unexpected departure of its CEO Harold Ryan. Game Skinny reports,

"Bungie's Board of Directors has announced that the studio's President, Harold Ryan, will be stepping down from his position. Chief Operating Officer Pete Parsons will take over as the new Chief Executive Officer of Bungie," as stated in a press release from Bungie.

Because of the changes in leadership, there were speculations on another delay on the sequel's release. The game was expected to arrive as early as fall of 2016 and the sequel was announced as early as 2014, per Gamespot.

According to Attack of the Fanboy, the latest reports would continue to push back the expected release of the game.

"Activision has announced during its latest quarterly earnings call that it expects 'Destiny 2' to be out sometime in 2017." This should be bad news for avid players of the online game but Activision also "expects to bring a large new expansion to Destiny in 2016," as reported by Business Wire.

If an expansion would indeed drop this 2016, Bungie would be in an ideal situation if they could further expand the world of "The Taken King." Of course, the complete "Destiny" collection is already available for purchase which includes the story of The "Taken King."

However, as an online game, Bungie could push additional expansion this year (for free?) and it would be ideal to simply work on a storyline that already proved to be successful.

As of this writing, details of the said expansion is still lacking which should surprise no one at this point.

According to Kotaku, "plans for the game's future are constantly shifting," and the shakeup in upper management is one of them. Still, "Destiny" is an amazing game and it still features massive following from gamers. A 2017 release would be amazing and a big expansion to usher in the expected sequel should be beneficial for everyone.
