There's some good news for fans who are eagerly waiting for Black Sabbath's new album.
Black Sabbath had earlier canceled plans to record a new album to coincide with their final tour. But now, it seems they might go back to the studio to record a follow-up to their last hit "13" after the tour.
Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler hinted that they might start working on a new album after they complete the tour. Geezer revealed that they cancelled the new album plans as the record label allotted them mere six months time to arrange music for the album.
"I was just being logical," Geezer said in an interview with Rolling Stone.
"At the time, we were given six months to write and record an album and I said, 'There's absolutely no way we can do it in six months'... Then they came up with, 'Well, you can do a blues album,' you know, just eight 12-bar blues songs and that's it. It's like, 'No. This is Black Sabbath. It's not the Earth blues band anymore.' It was ridiculous."
"There's nothing stopping us from doing another album after the tour... We just couldn't possibly spend three years in the studio and then do a final tour. We'll probably all be dead by then," he added.
It was after bandmate Tony Iommi made allegations against Geezer for not being ready for a new album that the bassist came forward to explain his situation.
"I've got so many riffs," Iommi said, reported Loudwire. "I wrote a whole load of stuff for another album and we met up in L.A. but the others... well, Geezer didn't particularly want to do another album."
Black Sabbath kicked off their final last month. The band will next be performing in Australia and New Zealand in April for two weeks and then in Europe for six weeks beginning June. The final tour show will happen in Phoenix on Sept. 21.
