The trade deadline is just around the corner and the Miami Heat has to make a decision on Hassan Whiteside.
Even with Pat Riley at the helm, it would be difficult for the team to keep him and this may cause the Heat to lose leverage.
This is why they should consider possible options and the Sacramento Kings could be a partner. It's not the rumored DeMarcus Cousins trade but the Heat could get a dependable veteran scorer: Rudy Gay.
There was already a proposal for Rudy Gay to come to South Beach as presented in Today's Fastbreak, but this is a different trade from the point of view of the Heat.
The Sacramento Kings were named as a team that could trade for Hassan Whiteside by Hoops Habit and the rationale is to improve the teams' defense.
"For Sacramento, acquiring Whiteside would be the move that justifies the rush of minutes DeMarcus Cousins has received at power forward," HH said. "Whiteside is a dominant rim protector who would alleviate a great deal of pressure from Cousins on that end of the floor."
In the proposed trade, Rudy Gay along with rookie center Willie Cauley-Stein would be sent to Miami, while Hassan Whiteside, Luol Deng and Josh McRoberts go West to Sacramento.
One big caveat to this trade is that Whiteside is also a volatile personality, in a similar mold with DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo. Can Coach George Karl manage them all?
Incidentally, the Sacramento Kings is the team that originally drafted Whiteside, in the second round of 2010 (same year as Cousins).
