After several years of waiting, long-time fans will now be able to secure either a PS4, Xbox or PC version of "Doom" as it launches this year.
According to Gotta Be Mobile, "Doom" was originally released as "Doom 4" way back in 2008. The sequel to the game didn't happen as it got stuck in the development stage. Bethesda announced last year during the E3 conference that the game's reboot would be pushing through this year.
The Verge reported that it is scheduled to be released on May 13. Aside from the single-player mode, the game will also offer multiple player campaigns and an edit mode where players will be able to create their own maps.
The game's publisher already released a trailer a few days ago where it featured the game's setting, what would players expect during combat and how the gameplay would be. Gotta Be Mobile said that users should expect it to be gory, like how they were playing it before.
The report also confirmed that Bethesda will be releasing a limited "Doom" Collector's edition alongside the standard "Doom" version. The collector's edition will come with a 12-inch-tall statue of the revenant made from PVC material and it will stand on a "sentry on a base-lit turbine that slowly rotates internally, casting an eerily flickering glow onto the nightmarish glory of this iconic DOOM demon." This limited edition will cost fans for around $119.99 in the US, €129.99 in Europe and £99.99 in the UK.
For those who are eager to get their hands on this game, they can already have it pre-ordered. Those who will be pre-ordering before the release date will be given a Demon Multiplayer Pack which includes "exclusive multiplayer goodies like a demon armor set with three skin variations, six metallic paint colors and three id logo patterns for your weapons and armor, and a set of six Hack Modules - consumable items that will give you an edge in a multiplayer match."
