The former Los Angeles Laker Pau Gasol has a found a resurgence ever since being traded to the Chicago Bulls. As per bleacherreport.com, Gasol has attributed his new found energy to the new organization where he has had averages of 18.5 points per game and 11.8 rebounds per game over 34 minutes of playing time.
"I'm definitely energized, definitely rejuvenated, all in, and I have been since I got here, I made my decision to come here. I've been energized, and mentally and physically engaged, so that's a huge deal for me," the 2-time NBA Champion said.
According to Chicago Sun Times, the Spanish big man will most likely weigh his options and test the free agent market after this season.
He is currently on a three-year, $22.3 million deal with a player option for the third year prior to last season.
As per csnchicago.com, Gasol spoke about his options in his pending free agency. "As long as I keep playing like this," Gasol said. "I know I'll have some options."
He then assured that he is physically strong and doing well. "I feel pretty good right now physically," Gasol said a game.
"I had to take it easier in the preseason so I started a little slower this season than I would've liked but because of how I played this summer I had no choice. I had to refuel somehow so I could have enough gas to make it through the entire season and still get to the end with enough and push through so I can play well in the playoffs."
With Gasol's departure, experts have said that Gasol might be traded given the Bulls' overloaded frontcourt. The Bulls organization may decide to move him before he leaves for nothing.
A rumored package has been Gasol and shooting guard Mike Dunleavy heading to the Toronto Raptors for Jonas Valanciunas. This trade would give the Raptors a low post scorer while the Bulls can have a stable center to play with their multiple power forwards.
With this trade, analysts believe that the Raps would immediately be in contention to win the Eastern Conference.
