Eight-time world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is now the center of news after receiving a storm of criticisms and hate comments because of a recent interview, where he stated his view on the matter of same-sex marriage.
The boxing star, who is running for a Senatorial position in the Philippines, recently did an interview for a Filipino TV Station, TV5.
In that said interview, Manny was asked about his side of same-sex marriage and his answer reportedly went overboard.
"It's common sense," Pacquiao said, as translated in English, according to The Guardian. "Do you see animals mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female. If men mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals."
This news shocked fellow Filipino TV personalities of Manny Pacquiao, especially the members of the LGBT community.
One notable TV host of ABS-CBN network, Boy Abunda, who is also an advocate of LGBT rights, fervently expressed what he felt upon hearing Pacquiao's comment on his evening show,
"Who are you to judge me as someone worse than an animal," said Abunda, according to Inquirer.Net. "Common sense, am I going to vote a candidate who called me worse than an animal?"
Manny Pacquiao then took to Instagram his reply on the criticisms and news about him.
"I rather obey the Lord's command than obeying the desires of the flesh," he explained.
"I'm not condemning anyone, but I'm just telling the truth of what the Bible says. The truth from the Bible has what changed me from my old ways.1 Corinthians 6:9 '(9) Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral nor the idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men,' God Bless everyone I love you all."
Pacquiao also issued an apology for what he said in a separate video.
