It was last July 2015 that a re-mastered version for the current "God of War" installment was released. Since then, fans have been speculating that a sequel is probably in the works and might be released in the years to come, or even sooner.

Fans probably enjoyed every bit of the "God of War 3" remastered version. But according to Movie Pilot, most of them were left in a cliffhanger situation which made them demand a sequel.

Cross Map reported last December that Cory Barlog, Game Director of "God of War," said they will keep fans updated on the development of "God of War" sequel.

In addition to the report, it was also stated that Sony Santa Monica Studio dropped some hints regarding the release date of the game which may either be this year or on 2017. Despite the confirmation of a sequel, the report added that the game is still in its initial stage of development.

Since the game is already in the works, fans cannot help but speculate that Kratos might not be coming back in the sequel. Speculations were set ablaze because of instances in Twitter where some fans announced that Kratos character will not be included in the sequel.

A user named Charles Weichselbaum posted on Twitter saying, "So Cory Barlog just announced Sony Santa Monica is working on a new God of War," Cross Map reported.

On the other hand, another user 'Tyrantll' aired his opinion that Kratos shouldn't be coming back in the game, in which he said, "Please don't bring back Kratos or Greek Mythology" tagging the Santa Monica director. The Sony Santa Monica account replied to this tweet, saying, "Yes, the gods have verified this to be true."

Could this exchange of tweets be the final verdict for Kratos' character? Or are these just part of Sony's teasing scheme since the game is about to be released?
