There may be a new top pick for the 2016 NBA Draft.

Reports are saying that Brandon Ingram from Duke University may have the chance to beat Ben Simmons from Louisiana State University as the number prospect.

According to Ricky O'Donell on SB Nation, Ingram has recently been making good plays that may give Simmons a run for his money when it comes being number one pick in the draft.

It was mentioned in the report that the Duke player suddenly became a threat to Simmons' place when he scored 18 consecutive points during a game against the Virginia Cavaliers. The game not only showed his shooting prowess but also his great footwork along with a quick release upon handling the ball.

As told by Sam Venecie of CBS Sports, although Ben Simmons was "a better athlete" against Brandon Ingram, he currently needed to up his game to make sure that he will remain the top pick for the NBA Draft 2016. This will apparently mean he needed to play strong up to the end of the season and make his presence known once again.

In an interview on "Trust the Podcast," Today's Fastbreak Daniel O'Brien mentioned what makes both Simmons and Ingram a possible number one prospect.

"Some people still have the view that Simmons is a lock -- that he's far ahead of the field but I think Ingram was a lot closer than people think," O'Brien said on the show.

"He's a special once-in-a-decade blend of size and playmaking. You just don't see that very often -- tremendous core vision and body control."

But O'Brien also cited some pros when it came to making Brandon Ingram the top pick in the NBA Draft 2016 against Ben Simmons.

"Phenomenal shooting skills," O'Brien pointed out. "He's got a nice quick high release on his jumper -- smooth, confident and that's something he can step in and provide right away for an NBA team while he develops his strength, while he develops his ball handling skills."

"The only major concern for Ingram on the offensive end is will he really be to create space against top tier defenders."
