2015's biggest film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" created quite a stir with its controversial ending.
Fans were emotionally devastated after the villainous Kylo Ren struck down his father Han Solo at the film's ending. While this may seem to be an irredeemable act, there are theories that may indicate that Ben Solo played by Adam Driver could actually be a hero in the new story line.
According to Bustle, the theory suggests that Kylo Ren is actually working undercover and preparing to betray ultimate supreme leader Snoke.
The theory suggests that when Kylo Ren said "I will finish what you started" to Darth Vader, he was actually referring to Anakin Skywalker's last attempt to destroy the dark side.
When Ren stabbed his own father, he was actually making the ultimate sacrifice to keep his place within Snoke's good graces. This has led many to believe that Kylo Ren will actually have his very own spinoff movie that shows his path to being the chosen one to destroy the dark side.
However, according to collider.com, director J.J. Abrams spoke about the team's desire to make a villain stronger and more evil than Darth Vader. "Star Wars had the greatest villain in cinema history," Abrams said.
"So, how you bring a new villain into that world is a very tricky thing. We knew we needed to do something fucking bold. The only reason why Kylo Ren has any hope of being a worthy successor is because we lose one of the most beloved characters."
He then added "Long before we had this title, the idea of The Force Awakens was that this would become the evolution of not just a hero, but a villain. And not a villain who was the finished, ready-made villain, but someone who was in process."
"In my early drafts, my thinking was we had to bridge the end of Return of the Jedi to what happens in this movie, and we didn't want everybody to start off altogether," Abrams shared.
"We wanted them to be spread all throughout the galaxy. We came up with a backstory that Luke had a pupil who turned against him and fought him, and killed all the other pupils, and that was a thing that exploded the family and destroyed Han and Leia's relationship."
