This romantic comedy film ''Love & Friendship'' is expected to open in cinemas in the US on May. 13, 2016. It was already premiered in the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 23, 2016 and the lovers of classic movies are waiting for it with bated breath. This classic movie might win some critically acclaimed awards as per the speculations of movie critics.
This movie is based on the novel ''Lady Susan'' which was written by Jane Austen in 1871. Boxoffice mojo had updated some basic details of the movie. Variety reported in Feb. 2014 about the cast of this upcoming film.
Kate Beckinsale (as Lady Susan Vernon), Chloë Sevigny (as Alicia Johnson), Xavier Samuel (as Reginald DeCourcy), Stephen Fry (as Mr. Johnson), Emma Greenwell (as Catherine Vernon), Morfydd Clark (as Frederica), James Fleet, Jemma Redgrave, Tom Bennett and Justin Edwards are the main cast of this upcoming film.
Hollywood Reporter reported way back in May 2013 that Whit Stillman will be the director of this film. Initially Sienna Miller was cast for the role of Lady Susan however, later she left the project. Vogue reported about it in Feb. 2014. This period drama is set in 1790s and this classic film will show Lady Susan Vernon in a color which is ideal for the times of those days. Her personal life became a talk of the town and she was forced to take refuge.
IFTN reported that Protagonist Pictures had already represented this movie during the Berlin International Film Festival. Amazon Studios will distribute the movie in North America. As reported by Herald and SSN, the principal photography of this movie started in Dublin in Feb. 2015.
The Wrap had covered the filming of this movie at the Sundance Film Festival. The author of the article Alonso Duralde captured the essence of this movie. "In the same way that Stillman has brought the courtliness of another era to his modern stories, in 'Love & Friendship' he puts a contemporary twist on venerable material, down to a third-act twist that suggests behavior that's anything but chaste'' stated Duralde. ''Were she around today, Miss Austen would, I think, smile upon this adaptation. And then she might add the upcoming Blu-ray of Stillman's Barcelona to her Amazon wish list."
