The Wildcats are coming back as the hit musical movie series is coming back for another installment. According to E! Online, "Disney Channel just announced that it's officially returning to East High for a new installment of the hit TV movie franchise. We'll not only meet the new Wildcats, but we'll also get to know East High's rivals, the West High Knights!"
The news will definitely provide a bigger setting and could possibly set-up for more than just another installment. The West High Knights will provide additional characters for the upcoming movie which means more potential future stars for Disney.
The upcoming film is commonly referred to as "High School Musical 4" and it will be under the direction of Jeffrey Hornaday and writer Peter Barsocchini.
According to Entertainment Weekly, "Hornaday, who worked on Disney's 'Teen Beach Movie' franchise, will direct and choreograph 'High School Musical 4', which will once again take place at East High and follow the school's famous Wildcats (as well as their rivals, the West High Knights). Dan Berendsen ('Baby Daddy') will write the screenplay alongside Peter Barsocchini, who wrote all three 'High School Musical' movies."
For those who are interested in knowing if the previous stars of the film will make an appearance, AV Club reports, "it's unclear if any of the original 'High School Musical' stars, including Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, and-of course-Zac Efron, the Han Solo of the East High Wildcats, are on board." However, it is confirmed that Disney has already announced auditions of the upcoming musical.
'High School Musical' is one of the most popular TV movies in the past years. The first movie was released in 2006 according to IMDB and it essentially catapulted some of the most popular movie stars and personalities today such as Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens.
