As "Alien: Covenant" is nearing the start of its filming, more developments are happening for the highly-anticipated "Prometheus" sequel from director Ridley Scott.

In a recent announcement, Fox confirmed that from an original release date of Oct. 6, 2017, "Alien: Covenant" is moved up to Aug. 4, 2017.

Apparently, "Alien: Covenant" is not the only film that had its release date changed by Fox. "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum is pulled out from its Oct. 7, 2017 launch while the romance drama "The Mountains Between Us" is also pulled out from its original Feb. 10, 2017 release date.

According to Variety, "Gambit" could be moved to either of these two dates: the supposedly release date of "Alien: Covenant" that is Oct. 6, 2017 or on Jan. 12, 2018. One of these dates, Variety added, may also become the release date for the sequel to the surprise hit superhero film, "Deadpool."

No new launch date has been announced yet for "The Mountains Between Us." Meanwhile, Fox also moved Tim Burton's "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" from Dec. 25 to Sept. 30, and getting the Dec. 25 slot, accordingly, is the comedy film starring James Franco and Bryan Cranston from its original date of Nov. 11.

Aside from the change in its release date, "Alien: Covenant" also adds up to its growing cast the "Watchmen" star Billy Crudup. This was confirmed by a report from Bloody Disgusting, which revealed that Crudup has already been added to the list of cast members for "Alien: Covenant."

Billy Crudup played the role of Doctor Manhattan in the comic book movie, "Watchmen." He is also known for his role as Russell Hammond in the movie, "Almost Famous."

Crudup will now be joining Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez and Alexander England. Noomi Rapace, who played as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in "Prometheus," will not be returning for the sequel as confirmed by Ridley Scott.
