Tech titan Apple is expected to launch its new generation Apple Watch 2 this year and a new report indicates that the newest smartwatch "might make its great leap forward."

In its report Fast Company said that the latest upgrade for Apple Watch 2 this 2016 might just make the move of going fully independent from the iPhone and might go as far as getting an LTE radio.

According to the report, customer research, media reviews and analyst coverage have well defined the shortcoming of the first Apple Watch and as expected, Apple Watch 2 will be filling those gaps. Principal analyst at Creative Strategies, Ben Bajarin, said in a statement that Apple Watch 2 will definitely be addressing first "the typical pain points of the hardware."

This, accordingly, will probably bring in a better battery, a new and thinner exterior design, reduced bezel space around the display and an upgraded set of more accurate sensors for Apple Watch 2. More importantly, the report noted, Apple Watch 2 will definitely have an improved processor for improved performance and response times as users were also commenting that they rarely use any third-party apps because of issues in the performance of the first Apple Watch.

A fully waterproof Apple Watch 2, according to Techanalysis Research founder and analyst Bob O'Donnell, remains a possibility although Apple has not yet confirmed the depth of water the device can withstand.

One of the things, however, users want for Apple Watch 2 is full independence from the iPhone and according to Fast Company, Apple Watch may be finally be "completely divorced from the iPhone" or at least have reduced dependence on the phone for connectivity and processing power.

Meanwhile, Breathecast reported that Apple Watch 2 may not be introduced in the rumored Apple press event this March 15, where the iPad 3 and the iPhone SE are expected to be launched. It added that Apple may be following its yearly release cycle and, therefore, launch the second-generation smartwatch sometime in September this year.
