Chris Pratt On Premature Son: Actor Shares Heartwarming Speech About Jack, His Premature Son Who Was Born Weighing Just 3 pounds, 12 ounces

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star recalled his son Jack's premature birth, nine weeks early in August 2012, when he weighed just 3 pounds, 12 ounces. He was invited to share his experiences in a speech for the March of Dimes organization held its 9th annual Celebration of Babies Luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The said organization is a non-profit group that promotes the neonatal and pregnancy health.

Chris Pratt is a well-liked actor as he starred in the blockbuster Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy and hit- cartoon, Lego Movie. However, he is more liked off screen as his love for his son and his experiences with the premature birth of Jack, touched the hearts of millions worldwide.

Joking about his son's size to a fish, the star said, "That's a decent-sized bass. Very small for a human." After that, he dwelled on how it is to become a father.

"I've done all kinds of cool things as an actor: I've jumped out of helicopters and done some daring stunts and played baseball in a professional stadium, but none of it means anything compared to being somebody's daddy," the 35-year old actor told the crowd. He is married to actress, Anna Faris, 38 since 2009.

He also recalled his experiences in the NICU of the hospital. He discussed on a more serious note, the life-and-death situation of his son. He added, "I made promises in that moment about what kind of dad I wanted to be and I just prayed that he'd live long enough that I could keep them."

His son now lives happily with his parents despite his month-long ordeal in NICU where he needed cosmetic surgery to correct his eyes.

"Our Jack went from a small, helpless little squirt to a strong, smart, happy, funny, beautiful boy who loves monster trucks and 'Daniel Tiger,' and, believe it or not, loves vegetables. Broccoli and cherry tomatoes are his favorite foods," the teary-eyed actor happily said.

The star-studded event included stars like Jason Bateman, Elizabeth Banks, Ron Howard, Selena gomez, Alyssa Milano, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emily blunt and Eddie Redmayne.
