Lancaster General (LG) Health has been named as the electronic medical record award winner by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Analytics. It is the first health system in Pennsylvania to earn this award and will be used for both physician and hospital use.
According to HIMS, this award places LG Health in the top one percent health systems in the country, and it utilizes a single integrated electronic record from Epic.
John Daniels, Vice President of Strategic Relation for HIMS said in a report, " LG Health's streamlined enterprise governance strategy has allowed them to optimize their EMR use and helped to galvanize community physicians."
He added, "Their highly collaborative approach has enabled many information exchange activities to enhance their population health initiatives."
Meanwhile, Thomas E. Beeman, LG Health President and CEO said, "We believe that the successful transition to electronic records in our hospitals and practices sets the foundation for population health."
In related news, the LG Health laboratory has been granted a $40 million upgrade to provide quality service to their clients.
