Not much has been revealed about the upcoming superhero film, “Deadpool.” The last piece of information that fans got pertaining to its production was Ryan Reynolds' photo.

Reynolds posted a photo on the Internet, teasing his fans with the mask that he will be wearing as Deadpool. The latest batch of “Deadpool” updates indicates that a heavy hitter will soon be officially joining its cast. The Hollywood Reporter says that former MMA star Gina Carano will be joining “Deadpool” as a mutant named Angel Dust.

According to the report, Angel Dust is a less popular character that has the power to increase her adrenaline levels so that she can attain super strength. In the Marvel Comics Universe, Angel Dust only has a very minimal presence. In fact, her role in the Morlocks mini-series in 2002, which was written by DC Comics’ Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, was her only significant appearance, Digital Trends reported.

It is the age of superhero shared universes, and the rise of new franchises is only inevitable. “Deadpool” is apparently going to get its first dose of a crossover with Colossus from the X-Men. Despite the mix, however, the franchise’s original characters were retained.

Previous rumors on “Deadpool,” which revealed that its subtitle will be “Wham!,” also hinted that TJ Miller of “Transformers: Age of Extinction” might be cast as Weasel. He is Deadpool’s closest friend and confidante, as well as his arms designer. Casting 247 provided character descriptions that the production crew is using in choosing which celebrities to cast, and fans have been using it as well to give their opinion about who they think should play the role.

Reynolds will play the lead role of Deadpool or Wade Winston Wilson. He is a killer who takes a certain treatment for cancer. Due to some aberrations during his treatment, he will be infused with superpowers. He then becomes an antihero and a mercenary, The International Business Times reported.
