The 2015 MTV Movie Awards will be held on Apr. 12, 2015 in Los Angeles, California at the Nokia Theatre. This will be the award show's 24th installment. Comedian, actress and writer Amy Schumer will host the event.

Nominees are picked by MTV executives and votes are done online through MovieAwards.MTV.com. Winners get to bring home a "golden popcorn" statue.

Nominees for the Movie of the Year award are "American Sniper," "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1," "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Gone Girl," "The Fault in Our Stars," "Boyhood," "Whiplash" and "Selma."

This year's MTV Movie Awards presumably has a better lineup than the 2015 Oscars. With its acknowledgment of Ellar Coltrane ("Boyhood") and David Oyelowo ("Selma"), the music television channel has recognized the unforgettable performances of these artists which have been overlooked by the Academy. MTV also showed their respect for teen entertainment and variety.
