While there have been numerous rumors about season 2 dwelling in the relationship among the characters in "Penny Dreadful," the most recent interview with Eva Green shares an in-depth exposition of Vanessa Ives, the good and evil inside of her, and what is coming for her come release date.
In the video, Eva Green declared "Vanessa Ives is a very complex character, even though she's in the darkness most of the time, she was aiming towards the light. That's the beauty of the character."
She continued, "When we last see Vanessa, in season 1, she finds herself confronted with the dilemma of whether she wants to be normal. In season 2, she is naked, emotionally and I don't know what she's about to do."
While audiences have confused feelings about Vanessa Ives based on the past season, Eva Green clarifies that while Vanessa is surrounded by evil, she still attempts to find the light.
In "Penny Dreadful" season 2, Eva Green shared that, "The devil is still haunting her. He sent his servants and the servant are witches, and they are actually much more terrifying than the devil himself. Vanessa is driven to find a way to protect herself and her family. Vanessa seems smooth on the surface but she has this fire underneath. She knows that she is kind of the devil's bride but just wait. She's too strong."
