Nintendo has announced a new wave of Amiibo characters which will be released in the coming months. In addition, three games for the Wii U have also been given their official release dates.
Amiibos for Charizard, Pac-Man, Ness, Jigglypuff, Greninja, Lucina, Robin and Wario are expected to be released on May 29. For July, fans can look out for amiibos Dark Pit and Palutena. Pikmin, Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, Dr. Mario and Bowser Jr. amiibos will be released in September.
Wii U shooter game "Splatoon" will be released by May 29. The game challenges players to shoot ink at opponents and surfaces, where the character can swim through or hide from enemies. Characters will also be able to increase their speed and climb up walls.
"Mario Maker" has been given a September release date. This game allows fans to create their own 2D Mario levels based on "Super Mario Bros.," "Super Mario Bros. 3," "Super Mario World" and "Super Mario Bros. U." "Project Zero" for Wii U has also been revealed by Nintendo for release later this year.
Fans are angered at the short supply of Amiibos ever since its release in Nov. 2014. The situation worsened last Apr. 2 when preorders for the fourth wave of the figures resulted to more shortages.
"Things started off badly when GameStop.com went down under the strain of people trying to preorder Amiibos. The company put up an "under maintenance" notice along with a statement sending customers to its physical stores to lock in their Amiibo preorders. That plan failed, too, as GameStop's point-of-service sales system collapsed under the weight of all the orders coming in at once," The Cheat Sheet reported.
The website also commented that Nintendo did not create nearly enough Amiibos to meet the demand. Furthermore, Nintendo does not seem very concerned in correcting this issue and the current wave of Amiibos caused the worst problems so far.
