Matt Damon's Jason Bourne returns to "Bourne 5," but not quite yet.
Latest updates to the upcoming "Bourne" film, unofficially labeled as "Bourne 5," reveal a slight delay on release date, with the three scriptwriter Paul Greengrass, Christopher Rouse and Matt Damon at the helm.
In a report by Screenrant, Matt Damon's upcoming "Bourne 5" film that was originally slated for a July 15, 2016 release date has been delayed two weeks and is now set on July 29. No other reason for the delay was mentioned, save for Fox pushing back "Planet of the Apes 3." The two-week delay isn't such a big move, at least "Bourne 5" film remains breathing amidst the writing issues.
It was courtesy of E! News that Matt Damon initially mentioned the 2016 release date, in which he said, "It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
This is also the first "Bourne" film that will not be written by Tony Gilroy as Matt Damon, Paul Greengrass and Christopher Rouse will team up to make "Bourne 5," and hopefully they meet the 2016 release date.
Paul Greengrass is known for his work in "Captain Phillips" (2013), as well as "The Bourne Ultimatum" (2007) and "The Bourne Supremacy" (2004). Christopher Rouse on the other hand has is known for "Captain Phillips" (2013) as editor as well as, "The Bourne Ultimatum" (2007) and "The Bourne Supremacy" (2004) for the same involvement.
"Bourne 5" will be a continuation of Matt Damon's Jason Bourne who was last seen during "The Bourne Ultimatum" released in 2007. "The Bourne Legacy" in 2012 lead by Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross will continue on to another unnamed "Bourne" movie, that will be produced most likely after Matt Damon's upcoming-yet-still-remains-unofficially-titled, "Bourne 5" movie.
