Should "The Last of Us 2" be ever confirmed for release, what will Naughty Dog decide to do with lead characters Joel and Ellie?
New speculations started to circulate that the talked-about sequel could either opt for a multiple ending or an ultimate ending leading to Ellie's death.
"I think Naughty Dog should make the ending of The Last Of Us series, (by the way I hope they make it a trilogy) as tragic, and depressing as they can," Movie Pilot reported.
"If the series does end with, Ellie sacrificing herself for this cure, I think it should either not work, (making Ellie's death mean nothing, and adding to the tragic tone of The Last Of Us), or it should cut to credits right as Ellie dies, leaving the player to wonder if it worked or not."
"Another option,one that I would like to see, is to have The Last of Us 2, have multiple endings," the report continued.
"Giving the player multiple paths to take, would be a good way to avoid ruining the ending of the first last Of Us game. As it would still be up to the players interpretation. They would be able to choose if Ellie is okay with the choice Joel makes in the end, and they would be able to choose if Ellie would be willing to die to save humanity."
Meanwhile, previous reports have hinted that Naughty Dog has already started with the initial stages for planning.
"One of the assurances that Naughty Dog hinted to loyal followers and game experts is that they have already hit early planning stage and has come up with new ideas during their initial brainstorming sessions," Crossmap reported.
Apart from "The Last of Us 2" release date, fans are also waiting for more news about the rumored "The Last of Us" movie. If rumors are accurate, the said sequel will not be launched until the movie hits theaters.
"The Last of Us 2 seems like a sure thing (just think about how well-received the first game was), but after several years it seems like Naughty Dog's priorities are in other places. The developer is currently devoting most of its time to Uncharted 4, and there's also a The Last of Us film in the works that is certainly keeping Naughty Dog busy," VCPost reported.
