Capcom's "Street Fighter V" beta was launched last week. However, the testing was plagued with connectivity issues.
Users reported issues with logging into the game and connecting to "Street Fighter V" beta servers. "We have brought the servers down for temporary fixes as of 7:25pm PST," the game's Twitter account posted. "We will make a few fixes and bring it back up ASAP."
Capcom's servers were overloaded which prevented users from logging in and caused connectivity issues for those who were in the game. However, the "Street Fighter V" beta has been postponed to a later date announced in a formal apology issued by Capcom.
"Capcom offers its sincerest apologies to everyone who participated in this first beta test," the video game company wrote on its blog. "While the purpose of a beta is to work out these [types] of issues, it was very clear that the issues we faced were more severe than we were prepared for."
The company has decided to take the servers offline for extended maintenance. An incentive will be given to players who participated in the "Street Fighter V" beta. There were concerns that players who were unable to connect to the game last week would not receive the incentive.
Capcom confirmed that the undisclosed incentive will not be dependent on whether or not the player was able to connect to the game's initial beta phase. The video game company also announced that at least three full beta tests will be launched prior to the "Street Fighter V" release date.
"To all of the European and Asian players that felt like they were missing out on the beta since we limited it to North America on Friday and Saturday, we apologize for the inconvenience," Capcom wrote.
"Due to the state of the server issues, we had to limit the numbers to a smaller pool in order to identify issues and potential solutions. Either way, we will still be providing these players with an incentive as well, as all territories were inconvenienced."
