"Mad Max 2" updates surfaced all over the Internet when "Fury Road" was among the top leaders in the worldwide box office during its premiere.

The film, starring Charlize Theron and directed by George Miller - celebrity news headliners - was able to garner $368 million globally.

Apart from its global earnings, it also got a lot of positive reviews from movie critics. iSchoolGuide has reported that its critical acclaim has made it a strong contender for the upcoming Oscar Awards. With the movie's success, its fan base has now been asking for a "Mad Max 2" update - or even just a spinoff film based on Furiosa, according to Cinema Blend.

AV Club has confirmed that Tom Hardy has already signed on for three more "Mad Max" films. Plus, the rumor mill is also abuzz with speculations that "Mad Max 2" is going to be entitled "Mad Max: The Wasteland." However, Theron told USA Today that she was not sure whether or not there was going to be "Mad Max 2" update as a sequel to "Fury Road."

"What is 'Wasteland'?" Theron asked. "This is all news to me. I have not heard anything like that." Still, it must be noted that it is also likely that Theron is bound by a contract that will prevent her from giving away any specific details regarding the sequel.

The "Mad Max" fan base has also grown to love Furiosa, played by Theron. Most of them have not hesitated in saying that her role in the film was just as major as Max's role. Sadly, since Theron said that she was pretty much in the dark regarding the sequel, some pessimist fans have started to think that the sequel might only come out 30 years later - just like what happened when the first film, "Thunderdome," had first hit big screens.
