"Damien" TV show is almost here and story developer Glen Mazzara shares details about casting Bradley James, and the controversial storytelling of Jesus Christ.
In a report by Spinoff Comic Book Resources, plot developer Glen Mazzara shared updates about the upcoming A&E TV show "Damien" and it is indeed mind blowing. The TV show, based on the classic "Omen" film will follow the story of the antichrist as he traverses in today's world.
"I love the first movie, but the second and third pushed him along this arc," shared Mazzara. "But I loved that kid from the first film, I wanted to know what happened to that kid. So now we get to see what's he's like 25 years later - which we picked intentionally because it means that Damien is 30."
In the TV show, Damien Thorn will be portrayed by Bradley James who is known for his work in the CW series "iZombie" as well as in BBC's "Merlin" as King Arthur. His casting in "Damien" will be his first titular character role, but already Mazzara has spoken highly of him.
"We saw 666 actors, and a lot were very talented, but when we saw Bradley, we knew he was the guy," shared Mazzara in the same interview.
Meanwhile, as if the TV show "Damien" isn't facing enough controversies (ie, petitions have been signed to stop production), Mazarra also revealed that as "Damien" premieres, whole lot of different angle will be shown to the audiences, specifically the story of Jesus Christ.
"Christ really started his journey when he was 30," Mazzara pointed out in the same report. "We're taking that Jesus story and twisting it on its head - which I'm sure is going to piss a lot of people off."
Casts of the upcoming "Damien" TV show include Barbara Hershey, Omid Abtahi and Megalyn Echikunwoke. Release date for the TV show remains to be announced.
