The budget for "Pacific Rim 2" full movie is ready according to director Guillermo del Toro.
It was previously reported that the film's production was "halted indefinitely." It was also said to have been pulled out from Universal's release schedule. These led to speculations that the "Pacific Rim 2" full movie is doomed for cancellation.
In addition, the film was caught in between the issue of the "Godzilla" and "King Kong" franchises. However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month, director Guillermo del Toro confirmed that the "Pacific Rim 2" full movie is still going to happen.
"We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks," he told the publication. "As far as I'm concerned, it's not gone. We're still on it."
Del Toro also confirmed that the delay is only temporary, adding that he "may do another movie in the middle." The director joked that if he was a billionaire, he would do "Hellboy 3" and "At the Mountains of Madness" aside from the "Pacific Rim 2" full movie.
When asked on whom he would like to win in a King Kong vs. Godzilla showdown, Del Toro answered that he "would like them both to win, and come over to [his] house for dinner."
Tech Times reported that Del Toro has recently confirmed the "Pacific Rim 2" full movie budget. The director took to Twitter to disclose key information regarding the sequel.
"To answer all tweets re: 'PAC RIM 2:' Budget ready," he tweeted. "Awaiting script from John Spaihts. Then is up to the studios to give it a green light."
"Pacific Rim 2" full movie was supposed to have an Aug. 2017 release date. However, it seems that the current delay would move the film's release window a bit further.
The director also tweeted about his plans to give "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams a Jaeger in the upcoming "Pacific Rim 2" full movie.
"Had lunch with Maisie Williams yesterday," he posted. "Remarkable. Dammit- if 'PR2' happens, that girl is getting a Jaeger."
