The Nintendo NX specs are said to be more powerful than the PS4 and Xbox One.
Wii U Daily reported that the rumored hybrid handheld/console system are "much more powerful than Nintendo's previous efforts with hardware." Known for their underpowered hardware, the video game publisher could be using the NX to redeem their image.
A post on Nintendo Forums revealed that Nintendo has always used last-generation technology in their consoles. This resulted to a gameplay experience that was inferior to the competitors' (Sony and Microsoft) consoles.
However, with the Nintendo NX specs, this could all change. The Wall Street Journal reported that Nintendo had distributed a software development kit for their upcoming video game platform.
The kit will be used by third-party software developers to adjust current games to fit the Nintendo NX specs or to make new ones. The publication commented that Nintendo might have popular game titles ready for the NX's release date.
"Zelda" Wii U was said to be developed for the NX, hence its release date delay. There are speculations that the game will be shipped by 2017 or later. This would definitely make for an attractive launch title for the console.
It was also revealed that the Nintendo NX might be launched in 2016. A spokesperson for the video game company has admitted that more details on the console will be disclosed next year.
According to Tech News World, the Nintendo NX specs could hint at the video game publisher's comeback. The upcoming game console could make up for the disappointments brought about by the Wii U.
"If the NX can correct the Wii U's missteps and create a truly seamless experience that allows players to take console games on the go with a standalone handheld and bring their handheld experiences to their consoles, I think Nintendo will definitely have a hit on its hands," EEDAR analyst Matthew Diener said.
