Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will reportedly be involved in a love triangle story arc in "Suicide Squad."
According to the rumor mill, the three ends of the triangle comprises of Harley Quinn, Will Smith's Deadshot, and Jared Leto's Joker.
Deadshot will have his sights set on Harley Quinn. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, meanwhile, will reportedly be hell-bent on ending, once and for all, her very dysfunctional relationship with the Joker.
"Harley is the biggest trouble maker!" Smith revealed to Tech Times. "But, Deadshot is actually eyeballing her a little bit. There is a pretty ragged romantic triangle there!"
Harley Quinn and the Joker actually have a pretty tumultuous history together. She acted as both the Clown Prince's girlfriend and sidekick to his evil activities. However, despite how they started as DC's villainous Bonnie and Clyde, the "Suicide Squad" plot will actually have Harley Quinn trying her best to break things off with the Joker. Apparently, she is sick of the Joker and wants to move on to other guys, according to Inquisitr.
"It is about her breaking free of the Joker and becoming this fully actualized, independent person," director David Ayer said in an interview. "That really is a metaphor for everyone's journey here!" It would appear that the love triangle involving the Joker, Deadshot, and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will be featured as one of the movie's main story lines.
In the source material, this is actually not the first time that Harley Quinn has attempted to break off from the Joker. She has attempted to cut times with him in "New 52" and "Batman: Assault on Arkham." It remains to be seen whether or not Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will be successful this time around. However, considering the Joker's evil, manipulating ways, it is highly likely that she will have her hands full.
