"Empire" season 2 spoilers suggest that Rhonda may have survived the fall. This is very good news for Kaitlin Doubleday, since there is a huge possibility that she will not be written off the show, after all.

At the end of the previous episode, Rhonda was lying at the foot of the stairs as Andre was trying to call her on her phone. As the clip ended, it remained unclear whether she survived the fall or not. However, a show runner may have revealed the next events in Rhonda's story arc.

"Firstly, we hope the baby survives," show runner Ilene Chaiken told The Hollywood Reporter. "We hope Rhonda survives! And, depending on the outcome of both those things, how will Rhonda and Andre repair themselves? That is going to be a big part of the story for the second half of the season!"

It is also heavily speculated that Rhonda was pushed from the top of the stairs by Anika, played by Grace Gealey. It was a relatively brutal scene, which was why fans were delighted when Chaiken hinted on the continuing life of Rhonda - and her unborn baby with Andre, played by Trai Byers.

Despite being with-child, things have not been peachy for Andre and Rhonda of late. The incident is expected to fuel the couple's state of disagreement.

"Rhonda and Andrew are figuring out whether this was an accident, a cruel twist of fate, whether it was something that God meant to happen or that somebody did to them for some other nefarious reason is going to be a very big story for us."

The Internet may be abuzz with speculations that Anika was the perpetrator behind the deadly push, but Chaiken reiterates that they "did not show a face."

"We know," Chaiken told TV Line. "But, the world - Andre, Rhonda, the Lyons family - do not know how Rhonda wound up at the bottom of that staircase. We want to experience this from their point of view. I am well aware that Anika would be the prime suspect in the minds of the audience. We know we have given her some motive, but it is not an inevitable conclusion that she did it."
