Gigi Hadid's father is facing criminal charges for allegedly stealing land from his neighbor.
Mail Online reported that the supermodel's dad, Mohamed Hadid, has built a megamansion in the millionaire's enclave in L.A. Gigi Hadid's father must answer criminal complaints over the construction of his home which is 9,000 sq. ft. more than it should be.
At first, it was only Hadid's company and his associate James Zelloe who had been named in the complaint filed by the Los Angeles City Attorney.
"We are pleased with this decision," Fred Rosen, head of the Bel Air Homeowners Alliance admitted to Mail Online.
"It is the right thing. When a person has been holding himself out to be the owner and then suddenly he says that he doesn't know anything about it, there has to be accountability."
The neighborhood fears that the construction of Hadid's massive mansion, which reportedly does not have the proper licenses and permits, could result to landslides and other accidents when storms occur.
Gigi Hadid's father was also accused of stealing land from his 89-year-old wheelchair-bound neighbor, Carole Cramer. "He told me, 'Why do you need the land? You can't use it, but I need it,'" Cramer said.
Meanwhile, Gigi Hadid has been named as Models.com's Reader's Choice for Model of the Year. The Industry's Vote was Anna Ewers.
Other nominees for the award were Kendall Jenner, Andreja Pejic, Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, among others.
Hadid's younger sister also received the Reader's Choice for Women's Breakout Star. Lineisy Montero got the Industry's Vote. Other nominees were Anna Cleveland, Imaan Hammam, Vanessa Moody, Sarah Brannon, Stella Lucia and Aya Jones, among others.
The male Model of the Year for both the Industry's Vote and Reader's Choice was Lucky Blue Smith.
Bustle commented that Gigi Hadid's win is not at all surprising since she has been dubbed as a social media phenomenon. The publication noted that "she was the obvious choice for the fan-backed category.
