Marvel's front liner Kevin Feige has confirmed that Ryan Coogler will be directing the "Balck Panther" movie.

Screen Rant shared that around a month ago, reports of Marvel Studios being interested to Ryan Coogler has turned into negotiations for him doing "Black Panther."

"This one is important. Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore," Kevin Feige said as confirmation.

Accordingly, Marvel's "Black Panther" is a project that was brewing for a decade and in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the movie is on the way with a Feb. 16, 2018 release date.

Marvel's "Black Panther" is described as a "geopolitical action adventure" movie and has reportedly a huge connection to "Avengers: Infinity War," which will also come in 2018.

Ryan Coogler led the development of "Creed." However, for this "Black Panther" project, Coogler might not be able to direct "Creed 2" which is for release on 2017.

According to Wired, before directing "Creed," Coogler also penned and directed "Fruitvale Station" which is a 2013 Sundance Film Festival favorite.

Marvel's "Black Panther" movie will star Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa. Presumably, the lead character will be introduced on this spring's "Captain America: Civil War."

"We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family," Feige said.

"The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct 'Black Panther.' Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we've found the perfect director to bring T'Challa's story to life."

"I'm excited. I grew very into pop culture, very into comic books, so it's something that is just as personal to me as the last couple of films I was able to make. I feel really fortunate to be able to work on something I'm this passionate about again," Coogler explained via Hey U Guys.
