While there were those who were excited that the commercially successful film was finally getting a sequel, there were also those who were wondering if there is a need for a one in the first place. Still the sequel seems to be in trouble as the "Beetlejuice 2" release date has been pushed farther.
In a report with Crossmap, it was confirmed that "Beetlejuice 2" was really happening. However, with regards to the film's release date, there is no clear schedule as of the moment, which might be leading people to speculate that the sequel was cancelled.
As for the film's casting, there will be people who will be making a comeback for the sequel.
It was reported by the website that Tim Burton will be on board to direct the sequel. The supernatural comedy film was a huge hit among audiences and was only teased in December 2014.
Michael Keaton will reportedly be back to play the role of the green haired ghoul.
In a report with Variety, Burton said that he and Keaton had already discussed the long overdue sequel and that the actor was "completely on board with it."
The director also added that there was only one actor meant to play the role of Beetlejuice and that was Keaton.
Winona Ryder is also set back to reprise her role as Lydia Deetz. The actress said that her involvement in the film was going to be "hush hush" at first until Burton revealed it himself.
Ryder said that she has no further details on what the film's storyline was going to be about.
There are no details on the "Beetlejuice 2" release date, but it is said that filming will begin after "Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children" wraps up.
