"Doctor Strange" will hit theaters worldwide this November and most of the cast and their roles have been revealed.
According to IMDB, the titular character will be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams has his love interest, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. But another name in the cast was included: Mads Mikkelsen from the TV series "Hannibal." Curiously, his character is not revealed online.
The guys behind the film hopes to keep Mikkelsen's character a secret for as long as possible.
"Fortunately, keeping things under wraps does not mean fans around the world will not speculate on his possible character. But before our choice of the possible character for Mads Mikkelsen, here's what we know about the upcoming film," according to Entertainment Weekly,
"Mads' character "is a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect..." He is also out to defeat the Ancient One because the character, "believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base."
Based on this very interesting fact alone, one character in the litany of villains Doctor Strange has faced in the past that would likely fit: Satannish.
According to Cinemablend, "When not fighting Doctor Strange himself, he relies on his cult the Sons of Satannish to do his dirty work on Earth, and has also struck alliances with human sorcerers like Asmodeus and Baron Mordo."
It does make sense when the recent information on Mads' character for "Doctor Strange" and Stannish's profile are pieced together.
Another reason is the fact that Satannish could be a good jumping point for introducing "Doctor Strange" to non-comic book reading viewers as he could be used to introduce the world where the Sorcerer Supreme lives.
He is also a great setup for a bigger battle for the titular character in the future since he is created by Dormammu, who is possibly the strongest villain for the titular character.
