There have been no word whether Naughty Dog will confirm production of "The Last of Us 2" anytime soon. However, despite the limited details about the highly-anticipated title, speculations are still running wild online.
Many are offering their theories on what the sequel will be about. Considering how the previous game ended, many are assuming that the second installment will pick things up where they left off, with both Joel and Ellie alive. Other possible plots involving a new lead have also been widely discussed online.
"A prequel starring Marlene, with an investigation into how she became the leader of the Fireflies would be really interesting," Movie Pilot noted. "It would give us the opportunity to see what it was like in the years straight after the outbreak."
"Joel's brother is an absolute hero in The Last of Us. In the opening moments of the game he saves his brother's life and the way that he helps him later in the game is beautiful. But would you guys want to take control of Tommy in the sequel? We could explore the years that he was part of the fireflies, his split-up with Joel and how he moved out to set up the base we're reunited with him in."
Apart from the sequel's plot, fans are also excited to see what upgrades will be in store for them once "The Last of Us 2" has been confirmed.
"One aspect of The Last of Us that I think a lot of gamers agree on is that the games' AI wasn't up to scratch," Movie Pilot reported.
"If you compare the AI with other aspects of the game, it doesn't live up to the expectations that Naughty Dog created. Enemies couldn't detect your companions, those who helped you in gun fights were mostly useless, and seeing how your enemies acted in battle broke your immersion. Why does every enemy spray bullets like there's infinite ammo out there? Enemies should be better shots with less ammo in The Last of Us 2 - it is the apocalypse after all."
