WWE superstar John Cena had been missing-in-action for quite some time now due to his recent surgery to correct a shoulder injury. Fans have been anxiously waiting for news of Cena's return.
Meanwhile, Daniel Bryan has recently surprised WWE fans with an unexpected retirement due to injury-related issues. With this news, there have been speculations if Cena might also suffer the same fate as Bryan.
John Cena underwent surgery for his injured shoulder last January and ever since his absence from the wrestling scene, fans have been wondering just how long it would take before Cena could return to the ring.
"Day 6 post operation," Cena said in a Twitter post last Jan. 13. "Movement is very good but because a giant chunk of cartilage was missing, this one may take a bit. #nevergiveup."
The "this one may take a bit" post fueled many speculations on the gravity of Cena's injury. Could the wrestling superstar be hiding the truth about his condition so that he could return to WWE soon?
Furthermore, PWInsider said that recovering from the injury and the surgery would likely take a six to nine months for a labrum surgery, according to a report by Forbes.
Fans have reason to speculate on the matter as Daniel Bryan has apparently surprised everyone when he announced his retirement last Monday, purportedly due to head concussions, according to Sports Illustrated.
"Due to medical reasons, effective immediately, I am announcing my retirement," Bryan tweeted. "Tonight on Raw, I'll have a chance to elaborate.#gratitude"
On a previous report, Daniel Bryan was able to get a clearance before the 2016 Royal Rumble commenced. However, even with a go signal from the doctors, it was rumored that Vince McMahon won't allow Bryan to participate in the fight anymore.
Was there more to the story than WWE had let on? And could Cena face difficulty in his WWE return as well?
Meanwhile, John Cena took to Twitter this message for Daniel Bryan's retirement.
"#ThankYouDanielBryan for DOING what most only talk about," he said. "Challenging everything. Authority, conformity, perception. Redefining valor."
Now that one of WWE's superstars is out of the ring for good, one thing's for sure, there's a void that has been left. And hopefully, the void will not get bigger by another early retirement from John Cena.
