The Blake Griffin sweepstakes continue to draw in interest as the latest NBA trade rumors suggested that the Orlando Magic is reportedly pursuing the high-flying, dunk-shaming forward from the Los Angeles Clippers.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders tweeted, "Orlando is trying to put together something big... not sure they can get there. Its the deadline of dreams."

While Kyler is not throwing away names, SB Nation's Orlando Pinstriped took "something big" to mean a literal big man in the person of Blake Griffin.

But getting Griffin would come at a cost.

"To get a player of Griffin's stature, the Magic would likely have to part with two of Victor Oladipo, Mario Hezonja, Aaron Gordon and Tobias Harris, as well as Channing Frye, and potentially draft picks" it said. "Would gutting their roster and moving all those assets for one true impact player be worth it? I'm not so sure."

Although Blake Griffin has found himself the subject of several NBA trade rumors, transferring a marquee player is never easy because of the consequences involved. A young team like the Magic would have to break up its roster for an experiment that might backfire later on.

Cast in point, the Los Angeles Lakers which attempted to create a superteam twice in recent years. The first was in 2004 with Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone and Gary Payton who all lost to the Detroit Pistons, a team devoid of superstars

The second time was when the Lakers hired Dwight Howard and Steve Nash to be paired with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, and they got bounced around in the first round.

Previous NBA trade rumors claimed that the Los Angeles Clippers are listening to offers for the injured Blake Griffin, but with playoffs just around the corner and after the past heartbreaks from the team in the post-season, it's more than likely they would hold on to the high-flying forward.
