It is common knowledge that the Toronto Raptors have been trying to upgrade their front court. According to raptorsrepublic.com, the aging Luis Scola and James Johnson have been their main big men as Jonas Valanciunas continues his inconsistency.
Despite their stellar guard play, the front court has lacked a scoring threat. The team has been reported to be eyeing forwards such as Markieff Morris, Ryan Anderson and Tobias Harris.
According to celticsblog.com, 2 All-Stars are currently on the trading block for the Atlanta Hawks.
CSNNE's Chris Mannix said on his show that teams have been trying to trade for the 2 former All-Stars. "I've heard that Boston's inquired about several players with Atlanta, Teague and Al Horford," Mannix said. "Teague might seem like a weird fit with this team because they already have point guards, but he is an asset, He's someone the Celtics could be interested in."
He then added "Horford, a little more difficult. It would be a gamble going after Al Horford because Al Horford is in the last year of his deal and he's going to command a salary north of $20 million next year. But as we know and as I just said, (president of basketball operations) Danny Ainge is a gambling GM. He could make a move like that, too."
ESPN also stated that the Hawks are willing to part ways with their 2 starters and Kyle Korver. The Hawks may believe that they could lose Horford for nothing in next year's free agency.
While Boston is a highly rumored trading partner for Horford, don't count out the Raptors just yet in landing the stretch big man. As seen on sportsnet.com, Horford's expiring deal and his type of play would be perfect for the Raptors. The Raptors could make a package of Jonas Valanciunas, Terrence Ross and a draft pick to the Hawks if they do decide to blow up their core.
