It was previously reported that "Injustice 2" will have an Apr. 2016 release date. However, there is no update from creator NetherRealm since last year.
"Injustice 2" is the long awaited sequel to "Injustice: God's Among Us," which was released in 2013. The franchise was developed by NetherRealm Studios, who is also responsible for the fame of "Mortal Kombat."
Attack of the Fanboy reported that a sequel to "Injustice: Gods Among Us" would sell a lot regardless of its release date but will surely be nothing against "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."
"This would put it out either right before or right after in a slot that NetherRealm loves, with 'Mortal Kombat 9,' 'Injustice: Gods Among Us' and 'Mortal Kombat X' all releasing in the same time period," said Attack of the Fanboy.
Fans were also suggestive on the characters that they wanted to see on "Injustice 2" on its release date.
Reportedly, Static, Supergirls, Poison Ivy, The Shade, Bleez, Captain Cold, Red Hood, Darkseid, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold were among the characters that are most anticipated.
According to iDigital Times, with NetherRealm Studios heavily promoting Mortal Kombat X, news of the "Injustice 2" release date will have to quell after "Mortal Kombat X's" Apr. 2015 release.
However, it is already the first quarter of 2016 yet NetherRealm still hasn't unveiled any progress to the "Injustice 2" release date.
According to Design and Trend, "Mortal Kombat X" Kombat Pack 2 will not be released on PC and sources suggest that NetherRealm Studios was blamed for the controversy.
However, aside from this controversy NetherRealm still hasn't released any news regarding the long anticipated "Injustice 2."
"@Official_AIAS @noobde Hope you can make it next year! EB: Absolutely!... unless we ship a game in April 2016," tweeted Boon.
The last update from Ed Boon regarding the "Injustice 2" release date was a teaser through Twitter.
