The dawn of new line of devices offering almost the same features as a laptop has put the continuity of laptop production in demise. However, some consumers still prefer to use these devices despite a wide variety of tablets offering lightweight and portable options.
During the 2016 Consumers Electronics Show, Samsung unveiled one of the new laptops it will be launching this year which is the Samsung Notebook 9.
Described as ultra thin and light, the Samsung Notebook 9 comes in two variants namely, the 13.3-inch which weighs 0.84 kgs and the 15-inch which weighs 1.29 kgs. The Verge reported that this device can be powered up to a maximum specification of a Core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of SSD for the 15-inch variant or 128 GB for the 13-inch one.
Though the notebook looks fancy enough that users might be thinking it has more features to offer, the Notebook 9 doesn't include touchscreen capabilities. But one unique feature it can offer is that it can open up to a full 180-degree arc. In addition to the report, the notebook is said to have a USB-C port and fast-charging capabilities.
Despite its many features, one of its pitfalls is its low battery life. According to Time Magazine, the notebook drains faster especially when performing multitasking.
Due to its light and slim appearance, there were claims that this notebook was designed to compete with Apple's existing MacBook Air. To start with, the screen of the Notebook 9 has a higher resolution compared to the Macbook Air, Time Magazine reported. According to the report, Apple features a LED backlit of 1,440 by 900 resolution screen while Samsung sports a 3,200 by 1,800 QHD+ display making it more vibrant with its colors compared to the Macbook Air.
In terms of cost, the 13-inch variant of the Notebook 9 with almost the same features of Macbook Air only sells at $1,300 compared to the latter's price of $1,449 in the market, the report added.
