Keith Urban admitted that his marriage with Nicole Kidman has faced its own share of challenges despite how great it is. Just months after their union, the "American Idol" judge had a relapse and needed to go into rehab.
During the exhibit "Keith Urban So Far," the 48-year-old singer shared how his Oscar-winning wife stayed by his side to support him on his struggles with addiction.
"[She's] the one I've been looking for and the one I've been preparing for, or life has been preparing me for, anyway," he told The Boot and other reporters.
"We got married, and I hadn't taken care of my problems, and so my demons just came and kicked my a-- and her a-- and blew our world up. But this woman rallied the troops ..." the "Cop Car" singer added.
Keith Urban even called Nicole Kidman the hero of his life and their marriage as he got into rehab again just months after they got hitched.
"In so many ways, it was the most powerful act of love in reaching into the fire and pulling me out," Urban stated.
The "Somebody Like You" singer got admitted into rehab in October 2006, just four months after they got married. The "Photograph 51" actress mentioned in an interview with Marie Claire in 2007 that the stint was the longest she has been apart from her husband.
"We were thrown into his alcohol problem three months into the marriage, and that was big," she also told Parade magazine in 2013 as quoted by Huffington Post. "We became the closest we could become because we had to bare our souls. We did 10 years of marriage in three months. You go to hell and back with this--when the addiction takes control of the life, it's terrifying."
Despite the challenges of rehab early in their marriage, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman will be celebrating 10 years together come June. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, he revealed the secret to their union was always dating.
