OnePlus recently got a significant price cut and gave a refund for those who bought the device most recently; could this be an indication that OnePlus 3 is coming to the market soon?

Engadget, in its report, said that OnePlus has permanently lowered the price of OnePlus 2 from $389 to $349. The price cut, accordingly, has established the price of OnePlus 2 at only $100 higher than its predecessor, the entry-level OnePlus X, and makes the smartphone even more affordable.

Additionally, OnePlus offered a refund of $40 to anyone who have purchased the OnePlus 2 device within 15 days from the date the discount was given. The company also threw in a free StyleSwap cover for a limited time.

According to Engadget, this price cut leading to a permanent price of $349 is already too competitive considering that OnePlus 2's performance is "top shelf." Among its features are the Snapdragon 810 chip, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of memory, a 5.5-inch 1080p screen and 3,300 mAh battery.

When asked why it is dropping the price of OnePlus 2, OnePlus said, "The cost to produce a OnePlus 2 device has never been lower." This, according to Engadget, signifies that OnePlus 3 is coming.

Recent reports point out that OnePlus 3 can become another "flagship killer" with really solid features and competitive pricing. The upcoming new smartphone is said to be sporting a new brushed metal back, completely different from the previous covers. It is also reportedly much slimmer and from a Gorilla Glass 3, OnePlus 3 will have a more enhanced Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Moreover, OnePlus 3 will have two variants: the 16GB and 64GB memory capacities, with 4GB RAM and 5GB RAM respectively. It will also a new processor, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820.

Smartphone enthusiasts are also looking forward for rumored features including iris recognition, and the near field communication or NFC, enabling two smartphones exchange data at a proximity.
