Deftones upcoming new album, titled "Gore", will be completely different from the band's last two released albums "Diamond Eyes" and "Koi No Yokan", according to frontman Chino Moreno.

In a recent interview with U.K.'s Kerrang! Magazine, Deftones' Moreno revealed that the band's upcoming new album will be a less optimistic album as compared to its predecessors.

"If you look at the title and the artwork, it's about a juxtaposition that, for me, is very beautiful," the frontman said, reported NME.

"I think Deftones have always flirted with dynamic and that yin-and-yang of things that are provocative and things that are beautiful. Where our last two album titles were a lot more optimistic, I think this title is intentionally different. This record is very different.

Furthermore, he talked about how different their upcoming release would be as compared to their past two releases, which he revealed undergone the same process of recording and writing.

"I feel like 'Diamond Eyes' and 'Koi No Yokan' were brother-sister records in a lot of ways," he added. "They were both recording in the same way. And even though it was a tough few years we went through while making those records, I think it was important to have their optimistic outlook."

Moreno also discussed how the band got out of its comfort zone to record music for the new album.

"I do think we went in knowing that we wanted to make this record a little different from the last two," he said, reported Loudwire. "And I feel, definitely, like we did that. It's still a Deftones record - we didn't really have any new influences that changed that - but it's an expansion of what we were comfortable with.

"And it's important to get out of your comfort zone sometimes with the music - just to be excited. It's got a different look. A different shade of color. I'd say some shade of purple. I don't know why, but I think it sits somewhere between pink, red and purple. Sometimes when I hear music, I see color."

Elsewhere, Deftones have been confirmed to perform at the Rock on the Range 2016 festival which will begin on May 20 in Columbus, Ohio. The band will be performing alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Disturbed, Bring Me the Horizon and Five Finger Death Punch.

Deftones new album "Gore" is scheduled to release on April 8, 2016, via Warner Bros Records. The album is currently available for pre-orders at www.deftones.com.
