Ian Somerhalder and his wife Nikki Reed are keeping their hands busy with several projects here and there, including the recent Mardi Paws, however the couple are now open to the idea of starting a family of their own.
The couple was previously rumored to be "falling apart from each other after they got married," as per Movie News Guide.
Reportedly, Ian Somerhalder could not yet start a family with his wife Nikki Reed because the latter does not plan to have a child yet.
Ian Somerhalder is also repeatedly linked to ex-girlfriend and "Vampire Diaries" co-star Nina Dobrev. However, the two exes have long confirmed that they do not have any affection for each other anymore.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight confirmed that Ian Somerhalder and his wife Nikki Reed are already trying to have a baby.
"It's something that everyone is talking about and there is a lot of speculation about it because we're so far into it," Somerhalder shared.
"I'll be honest with you, right now we're just trying to get through this one and just make this a really, really good season of television."
"We just want to get through this year and make it good and we'll see what comes about," the "Vampire Diaries" actor added. "That's all we're trying to do, but you'll be the first to know."
Somerhalder was also reported to be "The Vampire Diaries" director during its sixth season. And it is also confirmed that he will once again take the director's chair this year.
"I just finished directing my episode from last week and now starts the whole journey of post-production," Somerhalder shared. "I'm excited. I get the editor's cut in just a few days, on Saturday and then I'll start the process of really molding and crafting it."
