Although Paris Jackson's AA meetings aren't giving her grandparents peace of mind, an insider revealed that it's helping the actress.
Earlier this month, Jackson slammed her haters on Instagram. The post has since been deleted but she has revealed that she has been attending AA meetings.
Radar Online reported that Paris Jackson's paternal grandparents, Katherine, 85, and Joe, 87, are freaking out about the 17-year-old's actions. "They don't know what to do because they are just in shock over her behavior," a source said.
"The fact that she's in A.A. absolutely horrifies them because they are both so old-school. They want to pretend like addiction does not exist in their family. Sadly, that could not be further from the truth."
Last December, Michael Jackson's daughter broke up with her boyfriend of almost a year. Paris Jackson and boyfriend Chester Castellaw were allegedly planning to get married once the King of Pop's daughter turns 18 next April.
"Paris started to get depressed," the insider added. "Luckily she had some close friends who were in A.A., and they got her to start attending meetings."
"Thankfully, it worked. She hangs out with only sober people and she has a sponsor. Although it is new to her, she is definitely on the right path."
Paris Jackson also revealed in her now-deleted Instagram rant how the people's expectations ripped her dad, Michael Jackson, to shreds every day when he was still alive, vowing that the same thing will not happen to her.
The 17-year-old actress defended her father's actions while they were young. Michael Jackson was known to be "fiercely protective" of his children's identities, going so far as to have them wear masks while they were with him in public according to Mirror.
"I understand it now," Jackson told Oprah Winfrey in 2012. "When we went out without him, we wouldn't be recognized and we could have a normal childhood."
